Oct 01, 2016 Trying to update the Nvidia web driver on my 2010 Mac Pro. File opens and begins to install but ends with 'The installation failed. The link is from Nvidia. Thanks for trying, Kappy, but I still have the problem.
I downloaded and installed the 346.03.15f12 driver since I'm not on 10.12 yet (my Mac is too old for Sierra). After download, I installed and restarted. Alas, the system still thinks I have two displays. The Nvidia Driver Manager says I am running '346.03.15f12 (Up to date)', so the installation went well.
I had to turn mirroring back on because without it the cursor is able to move off the screen to the right (presumably onto the non-existent 2nd display), but with mirroring 'on' it stops at the right edge.

I saw the Nvidia Driver Manager let me choose 'OS X Default Graphics Driver', so I tried that (and restarted), also to no avail. I will switch back to the Nvidia Web Driver on next restart.

I do thank you for trying to help. At the very least, I now have a current Nvidia driver!
